Soil liquefaction
The phenomenon of water-saturated soil behaving like liquid during an earthquake, tilting and sinking buildings. Reclaimed land, former paddies, and old riverbeds are most susceptible — municipal liquefaction maps and the land's history (old maps, place names with water characters) are your clues.
