ekkyōえっきょう

Encroachment

Anything crossing a boundary line: eaves, walls, tree branches, pipes — in either direction. Standard practice is a written memorandum (覚書) acknowledging the encroachment and promising resolution at next rebuild. Undocumented encroachments are future disputes; get them papered before closing.
