apāto

Apartment building

A lower-rise, lighter-construction rental building, usually wood or light steel, typically owned whole by one landlord rather than unit by unit. As an investment class, whole apāto buildings are how many small landlords hold rural rental property — with yields and maintenance to match the construction.
