An old traditional-style house, typically timber post-and-beam with earthen walls and heavy tile or thatch roof. Beloved for character, but renovation is a different discipline from ordinary remodeling: insulation, foundations, and seismic strengthening on a kominka can cost multiples of the purchase price.
