kyū taishinきゅうたいしん
Old seismic standard
Buildings whose construction was approved before June 1981, under the old earthquake code. Expect weaker seismic performance, tougher financing and insurance, and — for condos — the question of whether the building has been evaluated or retrofitted. The approval date, not the completion date, is what counts.
