kyū taishinきゅうたいしん
Old seismic standard
Buildings whose construction was approved before June 1981, under the old earthquake code. Expect weaker seismic performance, tougher financing and insurance, and, for condos, the question of whether the building has been evaluated or retrofitted. The approval date, not the completion date, is what counts.
