banchiばんち
Lot-based address number
The number element of a traditional, lot-derived address. In areas that never adopted jūkyo hyōji, the banchi in the address is the lot number itself — which makes registry lookups straightforward. In converted areas the two systems diverged and must be cross-referenced.
